Clark Education City’s Certificate III Refrigeration and Air Conditioning is designed for those wanting to pursue an Refrigeration and Air Conditioning trade outcome covering selection, set-up, testing, fault finding, repair and maintenance of refrigeration systems and equipment, air conditioning and air distribution equipment. Combines industry relevant learning and assessment strategies, guiding students in developing a competitive advantage for success.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY
Apply OHS practices in the workplace
Document occupational hazards and risks in refrigeration and Air- conditioning

ADMINISTRATION
Source and purchase materials/parts for installation or service jobs
Provide quotations for installation or service jobs

CUSTOMER SERVICE
Deliver a service to customers Provide basic instruction in the use of electro-technology apparatus
Comply with scheduled and preventative maintenance program processes

ELECTRO-TECHNOLOGY
Dismantle, assemble and fabricate electro-technology components
Solve problems in extra-low voltage single path circuits
Fix and secure equipment
Use drawings, diagrams, schedules and manuals
Find and repair faults in d.c electrical apparatus and circuits
Solve problems in multiple path d.c. circuits
Locate and rectify faults in electrical low voltage equipment following prescribed procedures
Disconnect and reconnect fixed wired electrical equipment connected to a low voltage supply
Attach cords and plugs to electrical equipment for connection to a single phase 250 Volt supply
Attach costs and plugs to electrical equipment for connection to 1000 Va.c. or 1500 Vd.c. supply

REFRIGERATION AND AIR CONDITIONING
Position, assemble and start up split air conditioning systems
Recover, pressure and leak test, evacuate and charge refrigerants - split air conditioning systems
Determine basic operating conditions of vapour compression systems
Determine basic operating conditions of air conditioning systems
Install pipework for refrigeration and air conditioning systems
Install refrigeration and air conditioning systems, major components and associated equipment
Recover, pressure and leak test, evacuate and charge refrigerants
Verify compliance and functionality of refrigeration and air conditioning installations
Select refrigeration pipe/tube, accessories and associated controls
Diagnose and rectify faults in refrigeration and air conditioning systems and components
Commission refrigeration and air conditioning systems
Find and rectify faults in appliance motors and associated controls
Diagnose and rectify faults in refrigeration and air conditioning control systems
Participate in refrigeration and air conditioning work and competency development activities
