The Swinburne University Diploma of Business (UniLink) at Clark Education City is a direct pathway to second-year University. The units are similar to those in the first year of a bachelor degree, but the atmosphere is different. Students who successfully complete all units of study in the Diploma of Business (Unilink) are guaranteed credit into the second-year of several Swinburne University Business and Commerce degrees.

UniLink Pathway Program - Course Overview

The Swinburne Diploma of Business (UniLink) is designed as a high quality transitional education program that aims to prepare International students for successful Higher Education studies. The program consists of eight units over two fourteen week teaching periods. The program has been designed to provide students with a sound understanding of the basic business principles, which will enable them to transition to the Higher Education sector as well as learn valuable business skills which can be used later in their life. Students will be exposed to subjects from each of the core business disciplines.

The students will gain skills in the areas of Accounting, Microeconomics, Quantitative Analysis, Marketing, Management and Business Information Systems. The pivotal subject, Communication for Business has the underlying purpose of consolidating student's communication skills. This subject will enable students to develop their critical thinking and analytical skills so that they can communicate effectively in academic and workplace environments.

To achieve the goal of providing students with a sound understanding of basic business disciplines, students will be provided with seven core units which cover the areas listed above. The program at Clark Education City also offers the ‘Foundations of international Business’ unit.

Given the transitional purpose of the program, its design has been influenced by the imperatives to prepare students for successful Higher Education study, while at the same time maximising allowable exemptions within the undergraduate Commerce and Business degrees.

Consistent with the requirements of the Australian Qualifications Framework, UniLink Diploma graduates will be able to apply integrated technical and theoretical concepts in a range of contexts allowing them to undertake advanced skilled or paraprofessional vocational outcomes in Business related areas as an alternative to further study.

After completion of an eight month diploma, students will obtain guaranteed credit into a bachelor degree at one of Swinburne's Melbourne campuses
